Two English Men....
Meet the 'corner' men of the quartet.... James Garlick (below left) and Bass Trombonist John Ingman (below right).


James hails from Holmfirth in Yorkshire and is the groups 1st trombone player, James is currently principal trombone with the Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Band also playing with bands such as the Williams Fairy Band and The Black Dyke Mills Band. He is currently in his third year at the Royal Northern College of Music, along side his course at the R.N.C.M he has been working with the Halle and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra's. John comes from Whitley Bay on the North East coast of England. He graudated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2003 and works as a freelance trombonist and private teacher. John has a large amount of experience in Orchestral and Chamber music fields having worked with the Halle orchestra amongst others and is a former Principal Bass Trombone with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. In addition he has played with such bands as Black Dyke, Fodens, Leyland and Williams Fairey. He is currently the bass trombone player with the world famous Brighouse and Rastrick band.


.... an Irish man and a Welsh man.....
The other two members are Gary Walsh (above left) and Gareth Westwood (above right).

Gary is from Waterford in the Republic of Ireland. He is currently in second year at the RNCM, and studies with Chris Houlding (principal trombone - Opera North). Gary has played with the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, the RTE National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and the European Youth Brass Band.


Gareth hails from Pontllanfraith situated in the South Wales Valleys. He has studied with tutors such as Steve Legge, Rob Holladay (BBC Philharmonic) and is at present undertaking study with Chris Houlding. Gareth is Principal Trombone of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales and has also worked many brass bands,including as the Point of Ayr band, the BT band, the Leyland Band, Brighouse and Rastrick and the Yorkshire Building Society Band.
